Supporting the multi-disciplinary team developing the Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme
Positively worked with the Environment Agency’s communications team, consultant engineers and hydrologists to present the case for the construction of a flood management scheme in the Oxford area of the Thames. Specifically, we developed messaging and supported stakeholder and community consultations and enabled conversations about viable solutions to take place using public events, workshops and other information channels and fora.
The Environment Agency used the information generated from the community to develop its solution to flooding around Oxford. The consultation process enabled neighbourhoods and stakeholders impacted by flooding and the proposed engineering solutions to become connected with the development process.
At the consultations, the proposed flood alleviation solutions were presented on our innovative Walk-On map. This approach, where the proposals were overlaid onto the existing landscape, greatly enhanced the understanding of the infrastructure project by stakeholders.
