A 5-year global initiative mapping the world’s endangered coral reefs
With our partners at the Ocean Agency, we achieved extensive global TV, print and digital coverage for this visually stunning project. We provided stories connecting the scientific mission to the threat to tropical coral reefs from climate change. We developed linkages between business risk and ocean risk as key messages.
Our campaigns featured underwater images, the pioneering technology used to record these endangered marine wonderlands, and commentary from the crew and scientists. Major TV networks covered the story including all US news channels. Atlantic magazine, the New York Times, Guardian, Daily Mail, Telegraph and TIME magazine were among the hundreds of publications printing stories each year. Online exposure was significantly enhanced by the relationship with Google Earth.
Global awareness of the threat to our oceans from climate change was significantly raised. Extensive use of first-rate photography and authoritative content elevated global understanding of the urgent need for scientific research into the state of our oceans.
Oh, and an award-winning feature-length cinema documentary Chasing Coral was produced – Check it out on Netflix. https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/80168188
